Ulcinj

Explore Ulcinj: Montenegro’s oldest coastal town and Adriatic paradise

Ulcinj is located at the southernmost part of the Montenegrin and Adriatic coast. It is surrounded by approximately 80,000 olive trees and is known as the city with the highest number of sunny days in the year. The Old Town is the heart of Ulcinj's cultural heritage. On the upper plateau of the fortress lies the city’s museum complex, where the most interesting monuments of Ulcinj’s history can be found. There is a church-mosque converted into a museum, displaying all the artifacts from the Old Town. Right behind the museum is the Balšić Tower (Balšić’s Tower), whose space is now used as an art gallery. In front of it lies a small square, once known as the Slave Market (Trg robova), enclosed by the fortress’s casemates (arches). Northwest of Ulcinj, in the Kruče bay, are the ruins of the Old Town of Ulcinj — Dolcigno Vecchio.
